Your information, explained

Privacy policy

Effective October 13, 2026

This policy explains how PipPipGo handles information when you use our iOS app, related services, and this website.

1. Information we collect

Account information: when you create an account or sign in, we receive information such as your email address, account identifier, and the name or profile image supplied by your sign-in provider. Authentication is handled through Amazon Cognito; you can sign in with Apple, Google or email.

Travel information: we store the traveler profile, preferences, companions, destinations, dates, accommodation, transport details, and other information you choose to save in the app.

Conversations: if you use Ask Pip or Talk to Pip, we process your messages and responses. We retain available typed and voice transcripts and the context sent to the AI service. Live translation conversations are not stored. PipPipGo processes microphone audio during a live session but does not store raw audio recordings on its backend.

Location: with your device permission, location-enabled features may process your current coordinates, accuracy, and location timestamp to provide nearby results, weather, directions, and relevant conversation context. Location included in a conversation can be retained with that context.

Using the app without an account: the map, Find nearby, walking directions and phrase translation use only Apple services on your device. Nothing from these features is sent to PipPipGo or an AI provider.

Technical information: our hosting and service providers process information such as IP addresses, request times, error information, and service usage to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

2. How we use information

We use information to authenticate you, save and synchronize your travel plans, personalize responses, provide features you request, maintain security, resolve problems, and respond to support requests. Authorized administration can access retained conversations and AI context for support, troubleshooting, and service operation.

The public website does not require an account and does not include advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Hosting providers still process ordinary web requests. The public pages do not request microphone or location access. The optional signed-in web app requests location permission automatically when you send an Ask Pip message or start Talk to Pip. Shared coordinates may be sent to Google/OpenAI and retained with conversation context; you can disable future location access in your browser settings. It requests microphone permission when you start Talk to Pip or live translation; audio is processed transiently, with available transcripts and AI context retained as described above.

3. AI and other service providers

Amazon Web Services hosts the service, account authentication, and stored application data. If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, that company processes the sign-in interaction.

OpenAI processes information needed for AI features. Typed Ask Pip requests can include your messages, conversation history, traveler profile, and relevant current context. Talk to Pip can additionally include saved trips and companions as read-only context, and processes your live audio. Live translation processes audio and selected languages without attaching your saved profile, trips, companions, chat history, or location.

Tour-guide AI features may send location, nearby places, travel preferences and relevant conversation context to OpenAI. Booking extraction sends the text, images or files you select to OpenAI through our server; extracted details are saved only through the supported booking flow. Personal information you include in selected content is also shared.

The iOS app presents an AI sharing disclosure after authentication and requires explicit acceptance before opening the app menus or sending data to OpenAI. Acceptance is saved separately for each account on that device and must be renewed if the disclosure changes. Microphone and location permissions are separate device controls. Signing out or deleting the app does not remove information previously shared.

For AI processing, OpenAI provides data protection through its API service terms, restricted access and encryption. OpenAI states that API data is not used for model training by default and is encrypted in transit and at rest. Provider retention and limited safety or legal review can still apply; this is not a promise of zero retention.

Google services may receive place-search terms or coordinates for location, place, star-rating, weather, or route requests. When you are signed in, Find nearby sends the search area and category to Google for live ratings, and the map sends your coordinates to Google for current weather while the app is open; ratings and weather are not stored. Apple services provide maps, nearby search and directions. The information sent depends on the feature you choose.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or to providers helping us operate it. Providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States, under their applicable terms and privacy practices.

4. Retention and deletion

Saved account and travel information and your chat history remain stored until you delete them or request account deletion. Support copies of conversations, transcripts and AI context used for troubleshooting are deleted automatically 30 days after they were last updated. Live translation conversations are not stored. Raw live audio is transient on the PipPipGo backend; AI providers may apply their own processing and retention policies.

You can initiate account deletion from Profile → Delete account in the app. To request a copy of your information or ask for privacy support, email alikian@gmail.com from the email associated with your account. We may verify your identity before acting. Account deletion removes active application records and the authentication account; a minimal disabled-account marker can remain to prevent older sessions from recreating deleted data. Backups and operational logs may remain until their configured lifecycle ends, and information may be retained where required for legal or security purposes.

Deleting the app or signing out does not itself delete your account or server-stored information.

5. Your choices and requests

You can review and edit your saved travel information, choose whether to use AI features, and stop a voice session at any time. You can revoke microphone, speech-recognition, or location permissions in your device settings. Permission changes affect future access; contact us to request removal of previously stored information.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, or object to or restrict certain processing. Send privacy requests to alikian@gmail.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.

6. Security and children

We use encrypted connections, account authentication, and access controls to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Avoid sharing passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information in conversations.

PipPipGo is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.

7. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service changes. The updated policy and its effective date will appear on this page. For questions about PipPipGo or this privacy policy, contact the PipPipGo operator at alikian@gmail.com.
